Terms of Use

1. What Find a Pro is

A free directory of home service businesses in Texas. We list businesses from public business data and check them against public state records, as described on How we rank and Data sources. Placement and scores aren't for sale.

We don't employ, supervise or represent any pro, and we aren't part of any deal between you and a pro. Prices, schedules, work quality and payment are between you and the pro you hire.

2. What our checks mean

A badge means only what it says: for example, that a license number matched the state's file on the date shown. It isn't an endorsement, a guarantee of work, or proof of insurance beyond the certificate we reviewed. Records can change between checks. Before you hire, confirm the license with the state, ask for current proof of insurance, and get the price in writing.

3. Measuring tools are estimates

The yard, room and roof tools give estimates to help you compare quotes. They aren't surveys or measurement reports, and satellite pictures can be out of date. Your pro should measure on site before giving a final price. Don't rely on the tools for property lines, permits, insurance claims or safety decisions.

4. Using the site

Please don't:

• copy listings in bulk, scrape the site, or use bots to read it, outside what our robots.txt allows;
• give answers about a pro you didn't contact, or answer on behalf of a business you own or compete with;
• try to get around our checks, limits or security, or interfere with the site;
• use the site for anything illegal or to harass anyone.

We may ignore answers that look unreliable, and we may limit or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

5. For business owners

• Claim only a business you own or are authorized to manage. Codes go to the phone number on the listing so we can confirm that.
• Everything you add (fees, hours, license numbers, documents) must be true and current. Fees, hours and license details are shown publicly on your listing.
• Insurance certificates and ownership documents are private. Only our staff open them, to review your claim.
• You let us show what you add on Find a Pro. You can change or remove it at any time.
• We may reject a claim, remove information, or take a listing down if something doesn't check out.

6. Our content

The site's design, text, scores and software belong to us. Data from others is credited on Data sources and stays subject to its owners' terms. You may share links to any page.

7. Google Maps features and other map services

Find a Pro includes Google Maps features and content: the roof size tool uses Google's Solar API. Use of Google Maps features and content is subject to the then-current versions of the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. If you don't follow those terms, we may stop your use of those features.

Satellite pictures in the yard tool come from Esri and its partners, and address search uses the US Census Bureau geocoder. Those services have their own terms.

8. No warranty

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including about accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or that the site will always be available or error-free.

9. Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for anything a pro does or doesn't do. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

10. Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and using the site after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
